It’s a miss. Review by Ken

Light primer strikes with every magazine. Sig 380 is the ONLY ammo it will fire with any kind of reliability. I bought this because for the last 2 years I’ve carried and fired my TCP without ANY failures. I wanted the double strike capability the spectrum offered. However, I didn’t want to HAVE to depend on the double strike capability! Wish I wouldn’t have bought it. (Posted on 11/1/2019)

Despite some people’s dislike for Taurus I’ve never had an issue with the brand.

This is a nice compact gun and for the price I found it to be a good gun.

I only wish they would have had the color I wanted when I ordered it. (Posted on 10/23/2019)

I wanted something that I could carry in my pocket. Looked at all different models and makes. The Taurus Spectrum has a lot of the features I was looking for. Price was in my range, it wasn't a heavy pistol and the edges are rounded so easy to get out of my pocket. I purchased 2 of these one for myself and my wife. Perfect for my needs and shoots very well. (Posted on 10/9/2019)

Great little pocket pistol for concealed carry when you need something small. This weapon is for up close and sights are minimal .
It is comfortable to shoot for such a small gun and had no problems with a box of 95 grain Winchester flat nose. I would recommend Hornady Critical defense with this weapon for self defense. This is my first Taurus but plan on buying another . (Posted on 9/22/2019)

I read several reviews for the Spectrum before buying one. I didn't need it but for a sale price, I wanted to try it. The reviews talked about fail to fire and light primer strikes. I have not experienced this. I've shot about 100 rounds of FMJ and JHP ammo through this pistol. No fail to fire issues. I had 2 fail to feed in the first couple mags but that went away quickly as the pistol broke in. Bottom line, I have a new pocket pistol that will put lead on a steel silhouette at 25 feet. I want to run another 150 rounds through it before I'm 100% satisfied and will fully trust it. If they come up at that price again, I'd buy another! Oh, I shoot better with the short mag. Go figure! took gun apart to clean and check parts ,was easy to take apart . I was startled by how the recoil spring shot apart and when I tried to put back together found that the 3 1/2 inch recoil spring was almost impossible to control as it bent wildly. Contacted Taurus and they agreed to send new spring. Finally got gun back together with old spring and took it to range. Ran 75 rounds through it without any problem, using several different types ammo. Recoil stiff but expected. I hope the new spring is better because the Tech at Taurus said I should bring it back where I bought it and have them reassemble it. I own several autos and have NO problem in break down and assembly. I had to put on leather gloves and use what I would consider excessive force and a bit of luck to re-assemble this weapon. I would consider recommending this but if you are new to handguns I would be very careful with taking it apart as you may not get it back together. (Posted on 9/17/2019)

I was pleasantly surprised with this pistol. Fit my hands very comfortably and a lot less snappy than I was expecting from such a small pistol. I also prefer the consistent double action trigger of this gun over a DA then SA setup. Trigger is not too heavy, nor too light. Tested with the light 60 grain poly ammo and standard 95 grain lead ammo; no problems with either. Only issue I've had was getting the mag to lock in place on the first attempt. Great gun (Posted on 9/16/2019)

Brought the gun home after purchase and took it apart to clean and become familiar with it. Weapon was reasonably clean so I started to put it back together, 3 1/2 hours later I was totally frustrated. The recoil spring from the factory is 3 1/2 inches long and without any kind of keeper it bends too much to make an easy connection.Called Taurus Monday and after a long conversation service tech agreed to send new spring. I own quite a few autos and have never had this much trouble in reassembly. Finally was able to put it together after using gloves and more strength then I thought I had. Went to range and put 75 rounds thru it, accuracy very good for a small weapon,no FTFeed or Fire even with several different types ammo. Except for the spring issue I could recommend it. Hope Taurus fixes issue because this could be a great concealed carry weapon. (Posted on 9/14/2019)

Chambers and shoots reloads with berry round heads well. Also does well on the reloads using Hornady Xtreme hollow points. Nice feel in the hand and the recoil is expected for the size. The trigger pull is a little more than I expected, but that is the only downside I could see.

I have several makes of .380 pocket pistols, including 3 of the Taurus TCP 738's. This pistol is small, smooth and easy to rack the slide. Perceived recoil is less than all the others.Take-down is easy for cleaning. Accuracy is great after putting some "Wite-Out" on the sights to make target acquisition easier. (Posted on 9/8/2019)

I always had a 38, this is the first semi-automatic I've owned. The slide is hard for me to slide, a 60+ year old woman, but easy for my husband who has several semi-automatics. I'm getting used to it and it seems to be getting easier, it loads and shoots well. The main reason I bought this gun was for conceal carry. It's small and lightweight, fits easily in my purse or small holster and great price, so I'm happy with the pistol. (Posted on 9/6/2019)

Got a black Spectrum . Ran 100 rounds through it without any issues. Yes, it has a looong trigger but once I made friends with it I was hitting where I was happy. Came with two mags and I found no issues with the fit and finish or operation. I guess the slide release was stiff but not unusual for a new piece. It's a small pistol in .380 f that seems to be of good quality and function. (Posted on 9/2/2019)

Wasn’t planning on purchasing a pistol, then I saw the ad laying on the counter. I couldn’t pass it up and no regrets.
I’ve only had a chance to inspect, clean and lube. The trigger pull is long and gritty, cleaning and lubing resolved that issue.
I noticed that the slide is not flush in the rear. I’ve read of similar reports from others about this.
Other than that, the fit and finish is good.

Took it out and shout 6 rounds of American Eagle by Federal. It had no issues.

The sites are difficult to see, so I painted them. The pistol shoots about 6” low at about 25’. It’s in your best interest to disassemble, clean, lube and shoot at lest 50 rounds before depending on any pistol you carry for self defense.

Overall I highly suggest getting this pistol. Don’t forget the ammo! (Posted on 8/12/2019)

100 rounds down range so far. Fairly accurate for compact pistol. Comfortable to shoot with extended grip and flush magazine. Did experience one feed jam after about 20 rounds. Cleaned and lightly oiled the gun after that and it ran perfectly for the remaining 80rds.Highly recommend this pistol for someone considering a compact, DA only gun.

Its a 380 acp not bad but short range self defense. Over all get a 9mm unless its just hard for you to conceal. Not a bad back up gun. Accuracy is fair. Slide is not a flush fit with the rest of the gun. (Posted on 3/11/2018)

Bought this gun because I was tired of lugging around a S&M Shield 9mm in my leather vest or in general. The Spectrum is a perfect size for a lady like myself with small hands and it’s super sleek, smooth design is instantly eye catching. The silver and black look exceptionally sultry and it feels like ecstasy in my hand. The slide locks easily into place and the bullets load into the mag much easier than my 9mm. I like that it doesn’t have a safety on it and as long as you keep your booger hooker off the bang bang switch you’re good. (Posted on 3/4/2018)
