I have had mine for about a week and have about 50 rounds through it so far. I can hit 3-3.5 inch groups at 50 yards all day with this revolver. It's accurate and has a surprisingly smooth trigger. The finish is matte and appears to be very thin as it's already wearing off the hammer and cylinder. The grips wobble a lot but I'm working on fixing that today. Overall it's a fantastic gun for the money, just understand it's not a $1000+ Smith and Wesson, but it's great for a stash gun. Hope this helps. (Posted on 6/19/2019)

Not a bad revolver for the price! Review by Joe Gun

It works....! At the price that it sales for, that’s a BIG thing!!
But the icing on the cake is, that it is pretty accurate and the POI (Point Of Impact), is pretty close. And definitely close enough for a bedside table gun. I’ll buy another one just to tweet a little and to have as a back pack revolver on hikes in the woods.
Also reasonable quality for its price.
It’s a fun little gun to shoot, too.
Too bad it’s not a 357 Magnum revolver!
It would be THAT more durable for longevity sake! Joe (Posted on 6/23/2018)

Great Packing or Stash Weapon Review by WychDoctor

I ordered this gun after the local Rural King had sold out with it on sale at $199.99. WARNING - if you are in a hurry, fuggeddabouddit! Although listed as in stock, and being delivered to the local RK store, still took ten days to arrive. But on arrival, was worth the wait. After repeated cleanings to get half a pound of cosmoline off, gun was ready. Action is good, light trigger pull even on double action. Cylinder rolls smoothly and locks up solid, and surprise - hammer has a transfer plate instead of direct contact with primers - a good feature that is not listed in the description online. Also, finish is listed as blued - this is actually a very coarse parkerized type finish, dead flat black and not shiny - again, fine for a stash or carry weapon, definitely not a show piece - and does the finish ever hold onto that cosmoline! Front sight is a bit wide, completely fills the groove of back sight, and no reflective/high contrast dots - just flat black.
So, you get what you pay for - solid, reliable, somewhat rough around the edges, but good parts. Definitely worth the money. (Posted on 3/26/2018)

I got this as my introduction to revolvers and for $239.00 minus 12% rebate, I'm very happy. This is not a Colt or Smith, but should make a nice range pistol I think. The fit and finish are better than expected. So far function is perfect. I would advise anyone looking for a quality low cost firearm with a lifetime warranty to take a look at the Armscor M200. Problem X 3 repeated Review by SW pa Tom

This should have been an excellent revolver for my needs ie to take fishing. The revolver worked flawlessly for each of the THREE that I had EXCEPT they all hit at about a foot above and to the left .... I was able (with a rest) to get about a one inch consistent group. I had multiple friends shoot and results were similar. Examination of each revealed a barrel that was "off" center drilled and a rear sight ramp that was also off center. The folks at Rock Island were EXCELLENT. I could not ask for more supportive, cooperative and understanding folks. They sent me 2 additional revolvers after my initial purchase ... all with exactly the same issue. I did purchase a short barreled version previously which exhibited a similar problem but not as pronounced as the 4" version which I did keep for my fishing trips. Again these are excellent save for the innaccuracy issue. I ended up returning the last revolver and adding the additional funds for their full sized 45 ACP which is EXCELLENT. I also have a short "commander" 45 RI which is also EXCELLENT. I really wish I could have found one that performed for me. I do feel it is worth the "try" as apparently the ones I had were in the minority. (Posted on 12/10/2017)

Owned this revolver for just shy of two years and it's worked great. Put 300+ rounds through it with zero problems. Feels good in single and double action. The sights aren't the greatest but you would be amazed at how fast you can adjust to them and shoot well. For the price this can't be beat would recommend to anyone that's wanting a affordable .38 special. (Posted on 7/20/2017)

Rock Island does make some very good guns. This gun is a great gun also except for the finish. The frame is covered in small marks, ha little hard to see but still visible. The gun also comes dirty from test firing and with enough oil on it that I wonder if Rock Island also in the petroleum business. Other then that this is a good functioning gun and the price can't be beat.

Not the most attractive revolver .….. well that's an understatement. After cleaning the extreme coating of grease from this little unpolished diamond, I dropped it off at my gunsmith and had it completely disassembled to clean and polish all the trigger parts and smooth the moving parts. What I received back was truly Amazing! With a little fine tuning this rough looking and inexpensive gun will perform up against almost any .38 Colt, Ruger or Smith that I own or have ever handled. Amazingly accurate and just a pleasure to shoot. Pretty nice out of the box and if you have a good gunsmith just a few $ away from fantastic. I plan to buy another at the next sale. I just wish that the grips were a little better. (Posted on 4/9/2017)

Was looking for a cheap revolver to mess around with at the range and didn't want to spend 6-700 dollars so I picked up this M200 and after taking it to the range all I can say is WOW. Super accurate little 38 and not heavy at all. I like this little revolver so much that it is my carry side arm now. You can't beat this revolver for the price , if you have any reserve about this one then don't it will not disappoint you at all. Highly Recommended. (Posted on 2/4/2017)

Gun is not very pretty, finish is downright ugly, but its a great shooting, well made, functional gun, especially for the price. The action feel compares to Colt or S&W, better than my Rugers. If you want cosmetics, and are willing to pay the price, this gun is not for you, but if you want a good shooter, it's a real bargain! (Posted on 1/6/2017)

I wanted a 38sp revolver. This firearm is a great price and a pleasure to shoot on the range! It came absolutely covered in oil, so had to clean well before shooting. Beyond the pre-shooting cleaning, I've shot about 200 rounds and enjoyed every round. This is easily a great purchase. Highly recommended! (Posted on 12/20/2016)

This gun seems to be a very good value in a mid range gun.
Haven't taken it to the range yet, but so far I'm impressed with how it feels solid in my hand and double action trigger is smooth as glass.
I do think I will put a new set of grips on it, but that's just me talking, the one's on it are OK, I just want a wood grain type of look. (Posted on 11/18/2016)

Solid revolver for the cost, I replaced the stock grips with a pair of Pachmayr grips for the Colt Detective Special and it is night and day difference. Anyone looking for a holster, buy a Remora size 11 Holster, snug fit, covers the trigger, and hammer. (Posted on 11/14/2016)

Great price and great gun. It does shoot to the left, but groups pretty well. Even though the grips are polymer, they feel good in the hand. Try finding a 4" steel brand new 38 for 212.00 out the door, I don't think it can be done. Single action trigger pull on mine feels like about 2lbs. I like this handgun so far and I think you will also. (Posted on 11/10/2016)

Great shooting gun for price Review by Tim

This isn't a S&W or Ruger but it is a really great shooting gun, and a great value for the price. Both single and double action are surprisingly smooth, and feel like a Colt or Smith. At 50' this one shot about 3" to the left, but groups are tight. I can live with that. It doesn't have a fine finish of a Colt, and is obviously a bargain model, but is mechanically sound and I get more confident in its reliability each time I shoot it. If funds are limited, and you need protection, or just a range toy, you should consider this gun. (Posted on 9/1/2016)

I originally bought the snub nose version of this gun (it's the the M206 for those who are curious) and I loved it so I bought this one too.

Single and double action are both easy to shoot with and I like the 6 round capacity instead of just the 5 offered in most 38 revolvers. The grip feels great in my hand. The sights are fixed and dark but a little bright nail polish can make the front sight easy to see. I'm happy with it. (Posted on 8/19/2016)

I have loved Rock Island 1911's for a while and was interested in getting a revolver. Knowing the excellent reputation of the company and performance I have gotten from the Rock Island's I have, there was no question that I would at least try the revolvers. I am not disappointed at all. What a great gun and an excellent value! I highly recommend this for plinking, carry, and home defense.
