Description

NOT FOR SALE IN IL, HI or MN.

Born of the traditions of the Old West, the Rough Rider maintains much of the look and feel of the legendary Single Action Army revolver, only in a scaled down version. Chambered for the .22LR, the Rough Rider is manufactured using state-of-the-art precision machinery that assures its accuracy and reliability. The cylinder lock-up is tight and the perfect timing of the action makes for a handgun that will put its shots where you want 'em.  The machined barrel is micro-threaded and inserted into the frame for the optimal barrel/cylinder gap to give you maximum ammunition performance. A hammer block mounted in the recoil shield provides extra protection and has a red dot indicator that lets you know when the gun is ready for action. A new, more authentic looking flat-sided hammer paired with new exotic cocobolo grips, makes the Rough Rider both functional and handsome.

Ideal for hunting, plinking or western action shooting, let the Rough Rider be your choice in a new rimfire revolver.

Very disappointed and irritated!!! Review by Bullseye1954

I purchased this handgun on 5/20/2017. I shot it approximately 200 times and the trigger spring broke. I then called Heritage Firearms Customer Service and described exactly to the representative that the trigger spring (item 3.3 in the parts list) was broke which resulted in the cylinder bolt (item 5.2 in the parts list) not to function and lock the cylinder in place. She obviously knew very little about the handgun and told me she would send me a replacement cylinder. I told her that there was nothing wrong with the cylinder, it was the trigger spring that was broke. She then insulted me by asking if I was pulling the hammer all the way back before attempting to fire the handgun. I then told here that I was 63 years old and knew how to fire a single action revolver. Finally she agreed to send me a replacement trigger spring. I am very disappointed with the quality of this handgun and the shallow knowledge of the customer service agent. I would have given this zero stars except for the fact that I could not submit my review with zero stars. Don't waste your money or time on the handgun. (Posted on 5/21/2017)

Waited a week after ordering to pick it up on Saturday. I shot probably about 200 rounds and it broke on the following Friday. The part that broke was the trigger spring. I did not fan or dry fire the gun, yet it still broke. Called Heritage firearms and the lady in customer service to whom I described the problem did not have a clue as to what was wrong. She told me she would send me a new cylinder and I told her it was not the cylinder, it was the trigger spring. Then she insulted me by asking me if I was pulling the hammer all the way back before firing. I told her that I was 63 years old and knew how to shoot a handgun. She finally said she would send me a new trigger spring but it would be 10 days before I would receive it. It is always true "you get what you pay for". These guns are cheap and what you get is a cheap gun when you purchase one. (Posted on 5/20/17) (Posted on 5/20/2017)

Talk about a whole lot of fun, and I don't mean for the money, lots of fun period...great plinker and accurate enough that I plan on taking it for small game, meaning rabbits...another great plus on this gun is that it has an actual safety on the left side of the frame by the hammer that acts as a hammer block, and if that weren't enough it comes with a voucher for a .22 WM cylinder for a very low price.. so this one I recommend...thinking of getting another one just because... Tremendous product for the money! Metal is not as polished as the "better known" brands, but the Heritage (on sale) was about $450 less in cost. (Posted on 1/9/2017)

Picked one up the other day. Absolutely love this little six shooter. Has the sturdy build of an old time West gun. Added safety features are really nice as well, great gun to train first time hobby shooters with. Heritage also throws in a complimentary one year NRA Membership ($40 value) Would recommend to everyone! (Posted on 1/1/2017)

The gun performs flawlessly and really seems like good quality for the price. The wood grips feel smooth and well formed. It does not feel like cheap guns usually do. The only downfall l had is the barrel had a couple small knicks in it from the factory but for a sale price of $109.99, l really have no right to complain. I would consider another if they go on sale again. It's a fun cheap nice quality gun!! Everyone should have one!! (Posted on 12/30/2016)

Ordered on line and was at the local rural king store in 5 days. Had always wanted one, they look fun to shoot. Got it and after a short clean had it at the range. Yes it is fun to shoot. 7 to 10 yards very good groups (3 inches and less) on 10 inch paper plate. 25 yards the groups open up but still fun to shoot (most shots hit paper plate). When you get use to the pace of reloading and slow fire it's a lot of fun. As for quality it's not a smith but it isn't $400 either. Construction very good and the price make it a fun shooter. My Dad and I each picked one of these up for the sale price of $109. and its worth so much more than that! No its not a super high end gun but its beautiful and shoots pretty accurate. I have shot a couple hundred rounds and no issues at all. (Posted on 12/27/2016)

I was impressed with it being made in the U.S.A., and it's mostly steel construction. It has the heft of a quality firearm, and the finish is also good. I like the option to purchase a .22 magnum cylinder for only $30.00, also. (Posted on 12/25/2016)

This is something I bought for me and my kids to shoot together. It's a single feed but that just saves ammo so you won't blow through it. The fixed sights made it easy to shoot and it feels like an old colt. The look is nice and I love the length. Nothing wrong with this tackle box gun and great for squirrels. This gun was bought when I needed to use up some .22lr that I bought for a finicky semi auto. Boy, was I glad I did! This gun is accurate and just a lot of fun to shoot! Now I have to fight the urge to buy a western holster to go with it! I would recommend it highly, as a beginner gun or an additional gun that's just lots of fun. (Posted on 9/18/2016)

Ordered online and picked my new Rough Rider up on Thursday 8/4/16. On 8/5/16 during the customary inspection/cleaning of a new firearm I discovered the cylinder timing was so far off I didn't even load it! IF it had fired, there was a good chance the bullet wasn't lined up with the barrel. I contacted the manufacturer (Tarus International) and they supplied me with a FedEx shipping take to send the gun to them for repairs - never had a bullet in it yet and it's still got the tags on it. I shipped it to them this morning 8/6/16.

While I was on the phone with them I ask about the .22mag cylinder for this gun. There was a coupon in the box where I could order it for $29.95.....unfortunately that offer/info or for that matter even the option to buy the .22 mag cylinder doesn't appear on their web site. I was able to order it (currently back ordered) to be shipped when they come in for $39.95 plus shipping.

Hopefully they'll resolve the issue ASAP but I doubt I'll ever will ever waste money on anything else built by Tarus. (Posted on 8/6/2016)

This is a fun gun, like an old Colt SAA, mine is very accurate and works perfect. It's a nice looking gun, but it is not a Colt or Ruger quality firearm, and you can't expect it to be one at this price point, If you want a fun and inexpensive firearm, take a look at this one! (Posted on 7/17/2016)

This revolver is a lot of fun to shoot. For those of us raised on Western movies in the 50's and 60's, this sixgun will remind you of the old west and the values depicted there. The hammer cocks with 4 clicks- C-O-L-T. just like the original. Loading and unloading is almost as much fun as shooting. Every gun collection should have a single action army revolver and you won't find one for a better price. This is not a target pistol but it is a faithful reproduction of the 1873 Colt. It was a hard decision between this and the Chiappa 1873 .22. I ended up going with this and someone I know bought the Chiappa. They are both great guns but overall, I like this better. I've only put maybe 100 rounds through it so far but it shoots great, is very accurate at 30 feet and I haven't had any problems from it. I highly recommend this firearm. (Posted on 4/23/2016)
