Description
NOT FOR SALE IN IL, HI or MN.
Born of the traditions of the Old West, the Rough Rider maintains much of the look and feel of the legendary Single Action Army revolver, only in a scaled down version. Chambered for the .22LR, the Rough Rider is manufactured using state-of-the-art precision machinery that assures its accuracy and reliability. The cylinder lock-up is tight and the perfect timing of the action makes for a handgun that will put its shots where you want 'em. The machined barrel is micro-threaded and inserted into the frame for the optimal barrel/cylinder gap to give you maximum ammunition performance. A hammer block mounted in the recoil shield provides extra protection and has a red dot indicator that lets you know when the gun is ready for action. A new, more authentic looking flat-sided hammer paired with new exotic cocobolo grips, makes the Rough Rider both functional and handsome.
Ideal for hunting, plinking or western action shooting, let the Rough Rider be your choice in a new rimfire revolver.

The Rough Rider shoots great, and I particularly like the hammer safety.
An Old West feel when firing this revolver.

The sights are fixed. The rear "sight" is simply a POORLY defined groove in the frame. I'm not betting the gun has any degree of accuracy over any distance because of the inability to have a consistent sight reference. Heritage certainly could have done a bit better in the casting/machining of this portion of the frame.
As far as the cosmetics of the gun are concerned, the bluing leaves a lot to be desired. But again, you get what you pay for. This is definitely a plinker and not a high quality firearm. Albeit, it is priced accordingly.
Simply put, it is a plinker.....perhaps a beginner firearm to learn with, in regard to firearm safety and shooter methodology. Still, if I'm right about the sights and accuracy, this could be a discouraging factor. If a beginner is easily discouraged and cannot hit consistently with the firearm, it may be discouraging enough to cause a loss of interest in shooting. It's up to the "instructor" to determine what to do about it, should that occur.

So I bought a new one from RK (which pony express took 2 weeks) to get to the store.
I am a Sig and Glock person, and for the price of this cool single action for having fun works great. In my opinion, it really is built nice and looks sharp. Of course if u want top quality, pay he price for a Ruger Blackhawk or Redhawk.
So I am rating this 5's all across. You may ask why 5 on quality? For this price point, definitely worth it. If it was a 900.00 gun, then 1 star. (Posted on 7/21/2017) - Lotta bang for the buck Review by Shooter

Was little concerned after two people write about broken trigger springs. Then noticed same guy complaining with two different names. So not quite as concerned now.
Having some snake problems so had them send me the magnum cylinder and picked up some 22 mag bird shot. Not something I can do with my automatics, at least not more than one shot.

While I was on the phone with them I ask about the .22mag cylinder for this gun. There was a coupon in the box where I could order it for $29.95.....unfortunately that offer/info or for that matter even the option to buy the .22 mag cylinder doesn't appear on their web site. I was able to order it (currently back ordered) to be shipped when they come in for $39.95 plus shipping.
Hopefully they'll resolve the issue ASAP but I doubt I'll ever will ever waste money on anything else built by Tarus. (Posted on 8/6/2016) - Nice gun for the money Review by Mark Holbrook
